TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION: Mechanical Mechatronic Engineer

Job Highlights

This Mechanical Mechatronic Engineer role offers an exciting position of supporting projects for agriculture and farming devices development. This role will have the opportunity to collaborate with leading experts in indoor farming technologist in the region and can collaborate in urban agricultural projects around the world.

Available for: University degree holder (undergraduates or postgraduates)

Type of Employment: Full time (5-day work)

Location: Hong Kong

Remuneration: Competitive package with incentive plan & MPF

Job Function: Mechanical Mechatronic Engineering

Role & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for support in design, research, development, testing and curation of agricultural technologies
  • Support and help manage multi-disciplinary R&D projects from in-house R&D team to external collaborations. (agriculture, botany, biotechnology, engineering, etc.)
  • Design validation – receive and evaluate design information, drawings, and data. Verify that all design information and data meet the original design intent
  • Work with management to prioritise business needs with project outcomes
  • Work with the project team, to perform in-depth assessments for various entertainment technologies contents
  • Design of mechanical parts and assemblies necessary for manufacturing.
  • Identify and communicate potential improvements in safety and technical quality performance
  • Assist in preparation of technical training to the maintenance workforce
  • Perform ad hoc R&D projects and work as assigned by Management
Key Requirements
  • Degree holder (undergraduate or postgraduate) in Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or any other relevant fields
  • Ability to work with R&D colleagues to bring concepts and science into reality
  • Ability to complete assignments with attention to details and a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to read design prints, understanding and modification of 2D and 3D drawings
  • Experience with CAD software
  • Experience in the creation of engineering drawings of parts, assemblies, and installations
  • Communication skills and ability to work with other engineers, management, non-technical personnel, and customers.
  • Outgoing personality and a good team player

Job Function: Lab research and farm operations

Role & Responsibilities
  • Support daily operations and production management of our indoor hydroponic farm, including germination, plant care, harvesting, inventory management support, hygiene protocol control, quality assurance etc.
  • Conduct scientific research to support continuous hydroponic technology development
  • Collect operation data and perform data analytics for improve plant quality, indoor production environment and operation efficiency
  • Maintain farm operations and research database
  • Assist managers to organise educational farm tour and workshops
Key Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree, or master’s degree holder in agriculture, botanic, biotechnology, biochemistry, engineering, or nutritional science are preferred
  • Excellent scientific, methodological, analytical, and numerical skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
  • Organised, disciplined, tidy and strong sense of hygiene
  • Fluent in written and spoken English; Cantonese or Putonghua are advantageous
  • Fresh graduates are considered
